Everyone went back to school this week. After over two weeks of vacation, Monday morning was rough on all of us. Ben took it like a trooper. Of course, the smallest person in the house has no problem getting up at the crack of dawn. The princess on the other hand....if looks could kill I'd be a dead woman:) AJ did manage to sleep in a couple of days. His idea of sleeping in is 7:30. I'd be happy sleeping till 7:30:)
Ben officially moved into premium/medium diapers:( It's a sad, sad time for us. I weighed him today and he's a whopping fifteen pounds! Good grief. He's giving my arms a good workout these days. He's totally spoiled and going through a phase where someone needs to be holding him or he's not happy. Well, this week that someone was me:) He loves to "fly" and laughs. He's also learned how to arch his back and scooch (my own work perhaps) backwards. I have never seen a child get so excited about a diaper change, but that boy just kicks his legs and gets ecstatic every time I put him on the changing table.
AJ should have been named Trouble. There's just no doubt about it. There was nothing special or unique about his behavior this week. He's "all boy" all of the time so that's not new. His sneakiness and lying is though. He's not lying in the sense that he's hiding something per se, he's just denying absolutely everything he does. Tonight he snuck a Tootsie Roll right in the middle of dinner. Geesh! Like we really wouldn't notice he was eating candy at dinner:) He's torn between growing up to be a firefighter and a doctor this week. He wants so much to be like his big sister. I think he would do anything to win her heart:)
We got the official letter requesting permission to test Kayla for the gifted program at school. I'm a little confused as I just signed one last fall, but I'm thinking it's the second round of testing. Kayla was the only one in her class who got one so I assume that means her classmate who tested with her isn't moving on to stage two. Kayla complains about her a lot so in a way I'm glad, but of course, I would never wish any ill upon the little girl. I'm just glad that Kayla will have reprieve from her once she starts the gifted program. As much as I love having such a talented and smart young lady around, she is also quite a challenge sometimes. I'm not as smart as she is, lol. Don't tell her that though. Today she was watching a show about the "Human Hobbit." It was definitely different and that's really the only fitting description for her taste. She loves those discovery shows and this was definitely a discovery. She also watched "Before the Dinosaurs." I believe I'm adding that to our list for future video purchases. Great show.
The weather here has been warmer this past week, although we've gotten a ton of rain. I sludged through the muddy swamp of a yard to get out the bikes today and the kids spent a good amount of time riding their bikes this afternoon. It's our intention to get AJ a real bike for his birthday. I know he's going to be so excited. I'm just afraid I won't be able to catch him, lol. Unfortunately, Kayla has outgrown her bike. I'm not sure what to do on that front. I don't know many eight year olds that can't ride a bike without training wheels and I'm pretty sure we'd be hard pressed to find a bike in the next size up with them. I think she could do it if she would release her fear, but we all know how fear is. Only time will tell. In any case, all this fresh air should mean a good night's rest:)
